Community

Currently there are over 640 boys at CBC. Within this group there are many wide and varied groups. With 19 religions and 25 multicultural backgrounds represented it is fair to say that CBC is a true representation of the society we live in today.

The students have an understanding and are welcoming of the different cultures and backgrounds within the college. Add to this the school's reconciliation work and you can see CBC truly is diverse.

Within CBC there are many family groups who are continuing the great tradition of fathers and sons both attending CBC. Also many brothers join the college together and together make up a large part of the student population.

The Wider Community

The College is committed to helping the community. In 1968, CBC began its famous annual Walkathon. Since 1984, all the money raised - over $500 000 - has been given away. We have purchased kidney dialysis machines and monitor ventilators, trained guide dogs, supported organisations such as:

  • The Fred Hollows Foundation
  • the Juvenile Diabetes Association
  • St Paul's School for the Blind
  • The John Pierce Blind Centre
  • The Royal Children's Hospital Heartwell Fitness Program
  • Plan International
  • The International Centre for Eyecare Education
