Principal's Message

Welcome to the Christian Brothers' College, St.Kilda Web site. I trust this very important vehicle of communication enables visitors to our site to learn more about our College and come to appreciate the wide variety of options which we offer our students.

CBC is as a school with a rich history that was established in 1878. We are fortunate to have great traditions which we can draw on to give depth to our students' many experiences. Schools today need to respond to a variety of social needs. At CBC we are proud to offer students and their families a diverse range of programs that are responsive to each person. We aim to provide learning which challenges, imparts values, encourages innovation and teaches self-discipline.

One of our strengths as a relatively small school of 650 students is that we are able to form a strong spirit of community and belonging where students and teachers work in an atmosphere of mutual support, in the great tradition of Edmund Rice our founder.

CBC's broad curriculum enables students to access a variety pathways to enhance each boy's opportunities in life. In particular, our special partnership with Presentation College Windsor enables us to offer comprehensive subject choices for VCE students and the opportunity for our young men to work with young women in their senior studies. As Christian educators of boys we:

  • Support families in the spiritual guidance and moral development of their sons.
  • Provide a safe and emotionally supportive school environment.
  • Are leaders in the education of boys.
  • Offer learning experiences that respond to the circumstances of contemporary life.
  • Recognise that successful schools develop effective partnerships with families and carers.
